The second day of the Europacup at Union-Yacht-Club Attersee began with a calm morning, marked by sunshine while AP flag was hoisted. Around lunchtime, perfect sailing conditions set in, with 8-10 knots of wind coming from the North-Northeast, allowing all classes to complete three successful races. The warm weather and stronger winds may have encouraged some bold maneuvers on the water, leading to several protests after the races. However, the race committee and jury handled the issues with professionalism, ensuring that all sailors resolved their disputes fairly.
In the ILCA 7 class, Oskar Madonich from Ukraine claimed the lead, surpassing yesterday’s frontrunner, Anton Messeritsch from Austria. Semen Khashchyna, also from Ukraine, secured third place after day two.
Benedek Heder from Hungary continues to dominate the ILCA 6 Men’s fleet, with Jan Valenta from Czechia moving up to second place and Austria’s Maximilian Kasper holding third.
In the ILCA 6 Women’s fleet after five races, Beata Dokoupilova from Czechia still leads, followed by Kristina Boja from Serbia and Eva-Maria Schimak from Austria.
In the ILCA 4 Men’s category, Jiri Tomes and Tomas Peterka from Czechia maintained their positions in first and second place, with Andras Varga from Hungary in third.
Adela Propkopcova from Slovakia continues to lead the ILCA 4 Women’s fleet, while Julianna Ponto from Poland moved up to second place, pushing Roxie Bartuskova to third.
The day concluded with a delightful sailor’s snack at the restaurant, where participants enjoyed the beautiful scenery, delicious food, and great company.
Racing will continue on Sunday, September 8, 2024, when the final winners will be decided.
